I must be a weight loss marvel because at a little over five feet tall, I have managed to lose well over 80 pounds!! And I did it all without knowing anything about “gut health” or this “leaky gut” phenomenon we are hearing all about!! Amazing right?? Wrong!! Those pounds have been over the past 20 years, and are really the same 10 pounds, lost and gained at least 8 times! The worst part is that I am not alone in this….just about every one of my friends, family members and colleagues can relate. That single truth leads me to wonder how many American girls and women are on a diet on any given day (not to mention the men who are often in the same boat). Even though 95% of all diet programs fail, we spend billions of dollars a year on the “dream diet” and weight loss products, yet 8 out of 10 Americans over the age of 25 are overweight!! 174 million Americans are overweight or obese, and as many midriffs reveal, that number is expected to double in the next fifteen years. Never mind that these diets and schemes don't work, we are continuing to put ourselves through hell to get nowhere.

I've watched women sacrifice their health, well-being, and finances at the alter of skinny for as long as I can remember with no positive returns. But when I tell people I have a solution for them that doesn't involve suffering, deprivation or a singular magical pill, many say, “Oh, come on, I've tried it all Jessica! Can I really lose weight naturally?”

The answer is an unequivocal “Yes!” I wholeheartedly believe you can lose weight, and that you can do it naturally without starving yourself, without eating prepackaged food, without radical exercise gimmicks, harmful drugs or fad diets. Not only can you do it, but you can create balance, health, and well-being in your life while you're at it. However, the key combination IS a healthy gut and weight loss!

Personally, after having three children relatively later in life and then walking from one traumatic life event to the next, these are the systemic imbalances I discovered in myself that were causing rapid weight gain, and that I see most often in others that undermine weight loss efforts and create weight loss resistance:

  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Adrenal fatigue
  • Inflammation
  • Emotional distress/subconscious sabotage

After many visits to the doctor, trying hormone replacement therapy, adrenal support supplements, anti-inflammatories, hypnosis, and very restrictive eating plans, I finally found a highly effective way to help solve the puzzling maze of issues surrounding unwanted excess weight.
