The first monththe men slept in 75 degrees, so the body had no extra work to regulate temperature. Thesecond month was 66 degrees, then back to 75, then back to 66.Matt: Ah, so at lower temperatures, the body
had to work harder, so giving metabolic advantages.Trisha: Advantages that could help protect against obesity and diabetes.Â And the colddidn’t just make a little difference. It made a pretty sizeable difference. It’sall about brown fat, which is a special kind of fat that burns energy, and the colder temperaturemade a 3040% difference in brown fat levels.
